Turning the ABSTRACT into REALITY

Abstract Painting Workshop

With Whitney Ferré, author The Artist Within, A Guide to Becoming Creatively FitExample of Whitney's Abstract Painting

Do you need to create change?  In your career?  In your personal life?

You are the artist poised in front of the blank canvas, but the next step still eludes you.  In this workshop you will learn how to manifest change in your life through the metaphor of the blank canvas.

Whitney Ferré, author of The Artist Within, A Guide to Becoming Creatively Fit, will introduce you to your right brain voice, your artist within.  When you tap in to this voice you are able to consciously access an entirely new way of thinking.  When you change the way you are thinking you inherently gain different perspectives and new ideas!  The more you get to know this new voice, the more empowered you are to create change.

During your time together, Whitney Ferré will show you how to step by step create change on the canvas and your life.  First, you start with what you have on hand.  Collage pieces, fabric and mixed media are painted on to the canvas to create interest and texture as you take stock of where you are in your life or career and what tools you have available to create change.  The next step is to define what it is you are trying to create.  As you outline your design on canvas, you will define your dreams and goals so you can focus your energies in that direction.  Once you have defined your design, you lay in color, more mixed media, and gold leaf.  As you tap your right brain voice, your artist within, you will brainstorm new ideas and how you can apply them to the canvas that is your life.  Finally, we take a step back from our canvas to gain some objectivity and decide what colors we like or don’t, where we need to create change.  Then we add different shades of the colors we like and change the ones we don’t.  On our life’s canvas, we decide which of our ideas inspire immediate action, which ones we will strive towards and where we need to harness the wisdom of others.

In the end, you leave with a finished abstract canvas, a new-found relationship with your Artist Within, and a personal design for change!

This workshop is perfect for entrepreneurs and business leaders, who recognize the importance of innovation and of instilling creativity in their organizations, and for any individual who is in a state of transition, wanting to re-create elements of their life.   View images of Whitney’s work on the gallery page of her website:  www.creativelyfit.com

Good Morning!

Last Friday I spent the afternoon with The Sommet Group exercising our right brain!  I led this dynamic business group through the “Group Mural” project to illustrate their synergy as a team, how limiting beliefs can stifle an organization, and how to tap their right brains to innovate around the conference table!  We had fun!  Executives that had never painted before surprised themselves with their “piece of the puzzle”.  In this exercise an original work of art, by Nashville artist Todd Greene in this case, was duplicated and cut into 36 pieces.  During our creative exercise, each participant received a numbered, laminated 4″ square piece that they duplicated onto a 12″ square piece of watercolor paper.  As they focused on which color to layer over another, the business question they had posed at the beginning of the session was able to percolate.  At the end of the session, a new perspective and new ideas were applied to that same problem and the group was able to admire their work of art!  The finished mural is 6′ square and will adorn the wall of their training room to remind them of their creative ability!

Every business needs to innovate and create change right now.  Most businesses are not satisfied with the bottom line numbers at the moment, so that is change waiting to happen!  We all have to get creative to survive the economic climate!

Remember to tap into your right brain today, your artist within, so that you can feel optimisitic and hopeful!  Creatively yours, Whitney

I am so thankful for Thanksgiving!  It was an oasis in the busy-ness of everything going on.  I had to work hard to relax.  But the Design Principle of BALANCE is so important!  I dug out some yarn my mother had gifted to me last Christmas so that I could get into my right brain and still be around the kids.  I am anxious to hear back from readers about how their new awareness of their Artist Within is leading them to create new opportunities and ideas!  The books are now on the shelves of Barnes&Noble all over the country!  Look in my AMAZING BOOKS section for a list of all of the stores!  Please let me know if you have a group to which I could speak or a business/corporation that would be interested in my creative team building workshops.

Remember that any type of stress, conflict or dilemma is a creative opportunity to affect your environment and those around you for good.  Create change!  Buy the book and let me know what you think!  Whitney
